Flu Vaccination Campaign

Flu waves cost companies in Germany millions every year through absenteeism – and a significant share of these losses is avoidable. The workplace flu vaccination is one of the few BGF measures with a directly calculable ROI: vaccination cost per person versus the average number of sick days for someone with the flu.

What makes the workplace vaccination day so effective Convenience is the strongest driver of vaccination decisions. Anyone who has to book their own doctor's appointment, drive there, wait, and come back tends to put it off. Anyone who can get vaccinated in the break room during their lunch break – through a mobile occupational health service – actually does it. Participation rates for workplace vaccination days are typically three times higher than for purely individual initiative. Making it free for employees – whether fully covered or with a co-payment – further strengthens participation.

When the right timing is and what it takes October and November are ideal – before the wave begins. An appointment with advance registration reduces waiting lines and helps the medical staff plan. Advance communication, a simple sign-up link, and a short info notice are the entire effort required on the company's side.

How to put it in place

  1. 1
  5. 5
Info an alle: Datum, Ort, Ablauf, Freiwilligkeit und Nutzen kurz erklären
  6. 6
Anmeldeliste oder Zeitfenster-Buchung bereitstellen, damit keine langen Wartezeiten entstehen
  7. 7
Aufklärungsbogen vorab verteilen, damit der Termin selbst kurz bleibt
  8. 8
Getakteten Ablauf sicherstellen: Aufklärung, Impfung, kurze Nachbeobachtung
  9. 9
Mitarbeitende während der Arbeitszeit teilnehmen lassen – das erhöht die Quote deutlich
  10. 10
Datenschutz wahren: Gesundheitsdaten bleiben ausschließlich beim Arzt
  11. 11
Teilnahmezahl (anonym, nur Gesamtzahl) fürs BGF-Reporting festhalten
  12. 12
Kurzes Feedback zum Ablauf einholen (Wartezeit, Organisation)
  13. 13
Termin fürs Folgejahr vormerken – die jährliche Wiederholung etabliert die Routine
